Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a complete fighting art, focusing on standing self-defense techniques, striking, throws and take-downs, grappling and philosophy. Smile. Sweat. Learn.
Whether it’s self-defense, fitness or competition, we have what it takes to meet your goals. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes taking an opponent to the ground and utilizing techniques and submissions involving joint locks and choke holds, also found in numerous other arts with or without ground fighting emphasis. The premise is that most of the advantage of a larger, stronger opponent comes from superior reach and more powerful strikes, both of which are somewhat negated when grappling on the ground.
We teach the self-defense system created by Royce Gracie’s father, Grandmaster Helio Gracie. This is a real world self-defense system that was created to benefit the smaller person by using momentum and leverage. We cover the 5 facets of the art: Standing Self Defense, Grappling, Striking, Throws/Takedowns, and Philosophy.
